Program Governance
Scott County Public School Head Start has a formal structure of shared governance through which parents can participate in policy making, personnel, and programmatic decisions. The governance at Scott County Public School Head Start is a shared responsibility of the Scott County School Board of Directors, Head Start Policy Council, and parent committees.
Policy Council
Policy Council is a decision making body of Head Start. Membership of the council includes current parent representatives and individuals from the community who are interested in the program. Policy Council meetings are held once each month, usually on the third Thursday at 10:00 am at the Head Start Office in Weber City.
As a member of your centers parent committee or if you are elected by that committee as a representative to Policy Council, you will learn about how Head Start works including: Assisting with program eligibility criteria, Evaluate budget for the entire program, Interview and hire program staff, How to decide where Head Start centers should be located, How to conduct a business meeting, How to evaluate the program’s services, and How to cooperate with other agencies in the community.
